Strategic Initiatives

In addition to our policy and advocacy work, the Alliance runs issue-specific initiatives and programs. These initiatives aim to promote investment in energy efficiency by engaging Alliance Associate and non-Associate organizations on a specific topic, allowing diverse industry leaders to serve as subject matter experts.

The Energy 2040 Commission aims to demonstrate to policymakers that energy efficiency will be indispensable in achieving our energy and climate goals while improving the equity, reliability, and affordability outcomes critical to a just energy transition. Ten years since the formation of the Alliance’s National Commission on Energy Efficiency Policy, the Alliance has reconvened the Commission to create a roadmap for a just energy transition and provide the framework for the Alliance’s policy and advocacy work for the coming decade.

The Active Efficiency Collaborative is a community of industry leaders, NGOs, and public sector institutions working to accelerate the equitable adoption of Active Efficiency, which integrates digital innovations, smarter and more connected systems, and distributed energy resources with traditional energy efficiency methods. The group achieves results by deepening collaboration among stakeholders, cultivating champions, and developing strategies and policies to scale up Active Efficiency at federal, state, and local levels for a cleaner and more equitable energy system.

In K-12 educational facilities, student engagement is key to accessing behavior-based energy savings. The EmPowered Schools program educates students about energy efficiency through a project-based curriculum while saving energy in schools and building pathways to green jobs. Empowered with STEM-based efficiency training, hands-on experience, and results to show for their work, students become ambassadors for energy conservation in the classroom and at home.

Energy efficiency is a powerful tool, with applications that reflect every aspect of energy use in every sector. The EE Impact Report serves as a single, one-stop report that summarizes the contribution of energy efficiency to our society. The report is published as a collaboration between the Alliance, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, and the Business Council for Sustainable Energy.
